Common Name(s): airplant

Description: Large silver-grey air plant with wide, curling leaves. Blooms have red and chartreuse bracts and red to purple flowers.

Light: Bright, indirect light. Enjoys some gentle sun.

Water: Soak in room temperature water as needed.

Other Care: Bromeliads thrive in high humidity. They will flower only once, showcasing a long-lived bloom (3-6 months) before it dies over the next two years. Keep taking care of it because a healthy plant will produce pups before it dies.

Origins: Native to Mexico.

Other Interesting Facts: T. xerographica was almost poached to extinction in the 1980s. Since then, growers and exporters have had to adhere to strict regulations for the export and trade of these plants. Part of the Bromeliad (Bromeliaceae) family.
