About the Cafe

Our Story

Nestled into the West Hills of Portland on the Blatter family's fourth-generation farmland, Cornell Farm Nursery has been providing guests from all over the Northwest with the finest plants for their gardens, homes, and offices for more than 30 years.

Since Fourth of July weekend in 2016, the onsite Cafe has been serving up fresh, Northwest-inspired fare from the historic 1926 farmhouse at the heart of the property. The home was lovingly converted to preserve its original fixtures and charming architectural details, and in 2019, a heated outdoor Pavilion was added to connect even more guests with the beauty and history of the site. As a nod to our agricultural past, guests can even enjoy greeting — and feeding — the small flock of chickens that live in the deluxe coop situated in our display gardens.

Our executive chef and her team curate seasonal brunch menus highlighting locally-sourced ingredients, and our pastry chefs provide us with a scrumptious assortment of baked goods that are made from scratch daily. We are also proud to offer a full espresso bar featuring specialty teas from Steven Smith Teamaker and coffee sourced from one of the region’s finest roasters: Sleepy Monk of Cannon Beach.

Executive Chef Tamiko Voorhees

“I love food because it’s universal. Everyone understands it and needs it.”

A graduate of the Art Institute of California in Hollywood, Chef Tamiko sees food as a way to connect — with people, with places, and with moments. It was in the kitchen of her Japanese grandmother that she first fell in love with food while helping to prepare traditional meals as a child, and that love is reflected on every plate. Her menus are inspired by the seasons, the changing colors found all around her at the Nursery, and the abundance of high-quality, fresh, seasonal produce we enjoy here in the Pacific Northwest.

From Cannon Beach with Love

Like all great PNW journeys, our hunt for the best cup of coffee ended at the Sleepy Monk Coffee Roasters in Cannon Beach.

Starting with the finest organic and fair trade coffee beans, the artisans at Sleepy Monk roast all of the coffee and espresso we serve.

For those who want to get their Sleepy Monk without a trip to the coffee shop (or the beach), we are one of the few spots outside of their Cannon Beach store you can pick up their beans for your home brewing pleasure.
