About the Nursery

Nestled into the West Hills of Portland on the Blatter family’s fourth-generation farm, Cornell Farm has been providing customers from all over the Northwest with the finest plants for their gardens, homes, and offices since 1987.

As a local, family-owned business, we are known throughout the region for our extensive collection of plants and supplies, from annuals and perennials, shrubs and trees, and edibles and natives to lush houseplants! We also stock a thoughtfully curated collection of pots, statuary, fountains, and gardening tools. We pride ourselves in growing over 800 varieties of annuals and perennials in our Production Greenhouses and sourcing the rest from the best partners available to ensure the highest quality products — all while upholding a strong commitment to community and environmental stewardship.

Four Generations of Family Farming

From a historic dairy farm to a world-class nursery, Cornell Farm is a proudly family owned-and-operated business with almost a century of history. Since 1987, the Nursery has grown from a flower stand and a single greenhouse to an expansive garden center, serving the Portland Metro area with the highest quality plants, garden supplies, and gifts.

Commitment to Environmental Stewardship

Sustainability is the heart of our philosophy. As fourth-generation stewards of our family farm in Portland’s West Hills, we strive to lead by example with sustainable business practices and planet-friendly advice that helps gardeners support our wider ecosystems.

  1. We care for our own grounds and plants with sustainability in mind — using solar panels, minimizing waste by reusing our greenhouses’ nursery pots and recycling other materials, and prioritizing practices like Integrated Pest Management to avoid use of systemic pesticides and herbicides
  2. We grow many of our plants on-site and source the rest from trusted vendors with like-minded values around sustainability, the vast majority of which grow their plants within just 50 miles of our Portland farm.
  3. We empower gardeners to work alongside nature with our wide selection of pollinator-friendly plants like Pacific Northwest natives
  4. We showcase mindfully-curated garden supplies and sustainably-sourced soils
  5. We educate gardeners towards planet-friendly practices through our knowledgeable staff and online library of gardening resources
  6. We curate our selection of gifts, garden art, and pottery to highlight local, eco-friendly, and/or fair-trade companies
  7. We collaborate with community partners like the Backyard Habitat Certification Program, the Firewise Community Program, the Tualatin Wildlife Refuge, the Oregon Zoo, and many more to uplift the environment around the Portland Metro Area

These are just a few of the ways we embody our commitment to environmental stewardship. We believe in empowering our guests to follow our example in their own gardens and homes. Together, we can make a positive impact on our local ecosystems and our shared planet.
