Description: Shiny dark green leaves with contrasting bright white veins. Rarely blooms as a houseplant, but when it does it has attractive yellow flower bracts.

Light: Bright, indirect light. Can lose leaves with too little light.

Water: Keep moist, but not wet or oversaturated.

Other Care: This plant flourishes in high humidity.

Origins: Native to Brazil.

Other Interesting Facts: The spike has overlapping bracts and protruding yellow flowers. These flowers have a short lifespan, but the bract survives for a long time -- almost six to eight months. Part of the Acanthus (Acanthaceae) family.
